Born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, Mark has been helping professional voice users to master their vocal and performance craft since 2012. He earned the Master of Creative Writing degree from The University of Sydney in 2010 before completing the Master of Arts (MA) in Voice Studies at the Royal School of Speech and Drama (London) in 2015.
Coached and mentored by some of the world’s most renowned voice practitioners – Barbara Houseman, Patsy Rodenburg, Meribeth Dayme, Bill Pepper and Rowena Balos to name a few – Mark has taught voice to both performers and non-performers across the UK, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Mark currently holds the position of Associate Lecturer in Voice within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne and holds the position of head tutor and subject coordinator for the breadth subject, Clear Speech and Communication. Past teaching engagements have included Federation University’s Arts Academy (Ballarat), Monash University, as well as at Film & Television Studio International.
